Police asking for public help to identify Red Deer Walmart stabbing suspect

Red Deer RCMP is seeking public assistance to identify the suspect after a stabbing at the Red Deer-South Walmart on the weekend.

Red Deer RCMP is seeking public assistance to identify the suspect after a stabbing at the Red Deer-South Walmart on the weekend.

RCMP released two surveillance images of the individual and he is described as an Indigenous man, wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweat pants at the time of the incident. He was last seen on foot near the CIBC located at 5111 22 St.

An on-duty loss prevention officer approached the suspect, who was believed to be shoplifting at Walmart on May 22.

The suspect stabbed the victim at least three times and then fled the store. The 27-year-old victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
