Police kept busy with numerous arrests

Stabbings, robberies and numerous drug offences lead to charges against six suspects.

Two men were stabbed and another robbed at knifepoint downtown during a busy week for Red Deer RCMP.

A 30-year-old man is facing aggravated assault and assault with a weapon charges among others after being arrested on March 31 by police responding to a reported double stabbing.

The suspect was arrested shortly after police arrived at the scene of a stabbing involving two men about 3 a.m. Both were treated by Emergency Medical Services and taken to hospital non-life-threatening injuries.

The second man was not charged.

On April 1, a man walking downtown about 11:30 p.m. was robbed by two men, one armed with a knife.

Cash, a watch and silver chain were taken. Police located one suspect nearby and charged a 29-year-old man with robbery with a weapon and intent to endanger with a weapon.

In other incidents:

•On March 29, police making a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle found what is believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine. A 33-year-old man is facing drug, stolen property and failing to comply with court order charges.

On Tuesday, Red Deer RCMP patrolling downtown about 4 a.m. located and arrested a man in possession of what is alleged to be methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as break-in instruments.

A 40-year-old man is facing drug charges and a charge of possession of break-in instruments.

•Last Sunday, police responded to an altercation at a business around 5 p.m.

RCMP allege that when they arrived a female suspect was found in possession of drugs and several weapons, which was in breach of a number of probation conditions and recognizances.

A 21-year-old woman was charged with possession of drugs, possession of a weapon and nine charges related to breaching court orders.

•On Wednesday, around 4:30 p.m. RCMP responded to a report of suspicious activity downtown. On arrival, RCMP located a suspect who was wanted on nine outstanding warrants out of Red Deer, Lacombe, Blackfalds and Edmonton for offenses including drug possession, possession of stolen property, theft, failing to comply with conditions, and failing to appear in court.

When arrested the suspect allegedly had a stolen licence plate and marijuana. A 33-year-old man is facing additional charges of possession of drugs, possession of stolen property and not obeying court orders.

•On March 29, shortly after 10:30 pm on March 29, RCMP initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle as it drove on Spruce Drive. RCMP determined that the male driver was in possession of what is believed to be cocaine and methamphetamine and was in breach of court-imposed recognizances.
