Red Deer RCMP are looking for a man who tried to lure a four-year-old boy from his yard in Anders last week.

The man offered to take the boy to the beach.

On July 3 at about 5:30 p.m. the boy was playing in his yard in the Anders neighbourhood when a vehicle approached. A male suspect approached the boy, told him he was a taxi driver, and offered to take the child to the beach.

When the four-year-old went to his mother, the male departed. The boy was not harmed in the incident.

Police describe the suspect as a male in his late 20s to early 30s with his hair in dreadlocks. According to a Red Deer RCMP release he is not a black male, but had darker skin.

The vehicle is described as a white SUV crossover with a black stripe on it and an unusual roof rack.

Red Deer RCMP released this information to the public Wednesday.

Anyone with information that may assist police in identifying the suspect is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575 or, if you wish to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
