Red Deer RCMP has arrested a 37-year-old for stealing a vehicle and he faces several other charges.

On Jan. 21, police located a stolen vehicle and after several attempts to stop it, the driver fled.

Later that evening, members of the Crime Reduction Unit located the stolen vehicle, but the vehicle once again fled as police attempted to stop it. CRT officers came upon the stolen vehicle after it had struck another vehicle at the intersection of Gaetz and 71 Street where the stolen vehicle had driven through a red light. Following the collision, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police followed and arrested the suspect as he was attempting to gain entrance to a home in the area.

The Red Deer County man faces 13 charges overall and will be in Red Deer Provincial Court on March 9.
