Police have seized 285 marijuana plants with a street value of $342,000 from a rural property near Rocky Mountain House.

Police have seized 285 marijuana plants with a street value of $342,000 from a rural property near Rocky Mountain House.

The plants were found in a garage and dwelling 20 km east of Rocky Mountain House.

Police received a Crime Stoppers tip about the grow operation and entered the property on Wednesday.

RCMP issued a news release about the seizure on Tuesday.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP, the ALERT combined forces special enforcement unit from Edmonton, and the Northern Alberta Green Team were involved in the bust.

The combined forces special enforcement unit is an integrated team of Edmonton Police Service and RCMP members who work together to address organized crime and illegal narcotics in Alberta communities.

ALERT was established by the government of Alberta to bring together the province’s most sophisticated law enforcement resources to tackle serious and organized crime. Nearly 400 municipal police, RCMP and sheriffs work for ALERT.
