Warm up your pitching arm and come dunk a celebrity at the Ponoka’s Day in the Park fair.

Ponoka Mayor Rick Bonnett will be among the local celebs getting set to take one for the team.

Also on the roster are Ponoka CAO Albert Flootman, Brett Mauthe, manager of the local Servus Credit Union, Gary Colyn, manager of the Sommer Home Hardware Building Centre, Rob McArthur, a Homechurch Pastor, and others.

The summer festival is on Friday, Aug. 23 from 4 – 6 p.m. at Lion’s Centennial Park.

The dunk tank is a popular feature. You can join the fun for only $2 per ball or three balls for $5. All proceeds will be donated to the Ponoka Arts, Recreation and Cultural Society, a non-profit organization that supports future recreation facilities in Ponoka, including a new field house.

The Day in the Park also promises some free, family-friendly activities. There will be numerous children’s activities including bouncy castles, bubble soccer, face painting and various games from 1 – 5 p.m.

A free community BBQ will be from 5 – 7 p.m., with entertainment from local band Tap 9 from 6 – 8 p.m. A free outdoor movie, How to Train Your Dragon, starts at 8:30 p.m.

The night will wrap up with a fireworks show over the river valley at 10:30 p.m.
