Ponoka pool closing for maintenance

  • Aug. 9, 2019 2:30 p.m.

Annual maintenance and improvements will close the Ponoka Aquaplex for almost a month.

The scheduled work entails draining the main pool, deep tank, hot tub and wading pool, which will then be scrubbed and regrouted.

The facility will be closed from Aug. 25 to Sept. 29.

“The scheduled maintenance and facility improvements are part of a proactive maintenance program that will help to ensure the smooth operation of the facility throughout the year, as well as to provide increased safety, and a greatly enhanced user experience for our swimmers,” says manager Charlotte Williams.

Upgrades include anti-entrapment systems, which will automatically shut down the circulation of water if somebody gets caught in a drain.

The upgrades, which include new drain covers, fulfil Alberta Health requirements for public pools that must be in place by November.
