Ponoka RCMP has charged one suspect and is looking for another following a carjacking.

RCMP responded to a 911 call just after midnight Saturday about a car being stolen from a gas station.

Two males approached the victim’s car and presented what appeared to be a shotgun and demanded entry into the vehicle. Before driving away, one of the suspects hit one of the victims, causing minor injury.

The two male suspects fled in the stolen car towards Maskwacis, and a brief pursuit ended when the vehicle lost control and crashed in a ditch at the corner of Bobtail Road and Highway 2A.

One suspect was arrested, while the other fled on foot.

Ray Wyles Buffalo, 24, of Maskwacis was charged with robbery with a firearm, flight from police, unauthorized possession of a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of an offence.

Buffalo was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Ponoka provincial court on Sept. 18.
