Ponoka RCMP arrested a 20-year-old man and a youth from Maskwacis in connection with 17 thefts from vehicles and homes.

Police located the suspects after a rural resident reported a break-in at his home at 4:27 a.m. on Thursday.

Police said the homeowner chased the suspects who fled on bikes stolen from his yard and police found them with several allegedly stolen items ranging from electronic equipment to Pizza Pops.

More break-ins were reported by Ponoka residents that morning.

Both suspects were charged with break and enter and commit theft, mischief and possession of property obtained by crime. They were released from custody and scheduled to appear in court in mid-June.
