Ponoka RCMP is seeking the public’s assistance to track down three men who stabbed a man sitting on a park bench.

The suspects reportedly jumped the victim near the town’s museum on Aug. 5, stabbed him in the abdomen and punched him several times, sending him to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The suspects are described as Indigenous, 19 to 20 years old and were wearing dark sweatpants and hoodies. One of the hoodies was white and black checkered with a front opening.

“This type of random attack is rare in our community,” said Sgt. Erin St-Cyr of the Ponoka RCMP.

“We’re committed to finding out who is responsible and determining the motivation behind what happened.”

If you have any information about the attack, contact Ponoka RCMP at 403-783-4472.
