Ponoka woman killed in early morning crash

A 19-year-old woman from Ponoka was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Red Deer County early Tuesday.

Innisfail RCMP Freeway Patrol responded at about 1 a.m. to a report of a single vehicle collision at Hwy 42 west of the Hwy 816 intersection. A motorist had called 911 about a severely damaged vehicle in the ditch along Hwy 42.

The vehicle had been travelling eastbound when it exited the highway and rolled, striking a number of trees.

Red Deer County Fire Department and Red Deer EMS attended the scene. The driver and lone occupant, a female from Ponoka, was pronounced deceased.
