Potential threat at Red Deer elementary school investigated

Red Deer RCMP concluded there was no threat to students and staff at a Red Deer catholic school Tuesday.

Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools said in a release Tuesday that St. Martin de Porres School was made aware of a threat to the safety of staff and students.

According to a release, RCMP immediately responded to the school, searched the building and did not locate any threat. RCMP are continuing to investigate details surrounding the threat.

“Thanks to the quick action of school staff to safely remove students from the building, assisted greatly with our determination that there was no threat,” said Cpl. Mike Evans, at Red Deer City detachment.

Students were able to return to and resumed normal classroom activities.
