Preliminary election results for the Red Deer-Lacombe riding shows Conservative Blaine Calkins the clear winner.

As of 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Calkins had 38,449 votes, or 64.2 per cent of the votes.

New Democrat candidate Tanya Heyden-Kaye had 8,422 votes, or 14.1 per cent. Megan Lim with People’s Party of Canada had 7,776 votes, or 13.0 per cent. Liberal David Ondieki had 3,527 votes, or 5.9 per cent. Maverick Harry Joujan had 954, or 1.6 per cent. Independent candidate Joan Barnes had 561 votes, or 0.9 per cent. Libertarian Matthew Watson had 206 votes, or 0.3 per cent.

Mail-in ballots were being counted on Tuesday.
