Preliminary hearing set for woman face charges

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Sylvan Lake woman charged with numerous offences by police investigating a home invasion north of the town on June 3.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a Sylvan Lake woman charged with numerous offences by police investigating a home invasion north of the town on June 3.

Ashley Dawn Chambers, 24, pleaded not guilty on Friday and requested trial by Court of Queen’s Bench judge alone on charges including armed robbery, unlawful confinement, unlawful use of a firearm, breaking and entering a dwelling, pointing a firearm and possession of a loaded firearm that is either restricted or prohibited.

Chambers has additional charges before the courts, arising from other incidents.

A preliminary hearing has been set for Feb. 19 on the June 3 charges. Such hearing may be scheduled to test the strength of the Crown’s case before proceeding to trial.

Chambers has been in custody since turning herself in to RCMP in Airdrie on June 16.
