Health care workers and Albertans are invited to join in-person engagement sessions to provide their input into the refocusing of Alberta’s health care system.
The province says a refocused health care system will improve health outcomes for Albertans and empower health care workers to deliver quality care across the province.
Up to 30 sessions will be hosted around the province starting in January to gather insights into the successes, challenges and strengths of the current health care system, which will help shape the future of Alberta’s health care.
“Engaging with health care professionals, patients and all Albertans is a vital pillar in our government’s effort to refocus the health care system. The input, experiences and feedback we gather will help create a more effective and efficient health care system that is accessible to all Albertans in every corner of the province. You deserve health care that supports you and your family now and for generations to come,” said Health Minister Adriana LaGrange, in a statement.

Health care workers and Albertans are encouraged to recommend locations for in-person engagement sessions by completing an online form available from Dec. 12 to Dec. 19 on alberta.ca.
Once the locations are determined, registration for specific sessions will open in January.
Further engagement plans will be announced in January, including dedicated Indigenous engagement and an online platform to interact with government directly. Regularly updated information about new and ongoing engagement sessions are available on the “Shape the way” page on alberta.ca.

So far five virtual town halls have been held, with a total of about 8,330 participants. Three were available to all Alberta Health Services staff, while two were specifically for mental health and addiction-focused staff and community partners.
Albertans are encouraged to fill out a feedback form on the “Shape the way” page on the healthcare refocusing website to share their thoughts and feedback.
