Public hearing for Red Deer lane closure on March 20

A public hearing will be held March 20 regarding a proposal to close the lane-way running behind the Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter.

Anyone affected can speak up at the 5 p.m. public hearing at Red Deer City Hall about redesignating this road to a “direct control district.” These districts are customized land use designations that have to fit a certain criteria of allowable uses and a set of rules.

The L-shaped lane-way can now be accessed from 53rd Street and 47th Avenue. But it would be closed to public use if the bylaw passes third reading.

Members of the public can attend the hearing, or email written feedback to publichearings@reddeer.ca by March 10.
