Public invited to opening of Red Deer’s Northside Community Centre

YMCA and city reps will attend reception on July 24

Red Deer’s Northside Community Centre will have its official opening July 24.

The City of Red Deer and the YMCA of Northern Alberta are partnering in the new community centre, which will throw its doors open from 4 to 7 p.m. at the corner of Taylor Drive and 77th Street.

There will be a brief program at 4:30 p.m., followed by a free barbecue and refreshments while supplies last.

Everyone is welcome to come see the new facility at this family-friendly event.

The city will remain the owner of the facility, with the YMCA responsible for all aspects of operating the new amenity.

The centre actually opened July 2, with the YMCA running summer day camps and weekly teen nights. Group fitness with childminding, open gym time and the drop-in youth centre will be available Aug. 1.
