RCMP officers deal with all kinds of situations. Recently, they dealt with an unexpected four-legged visitor.

Officers found a puppy in a box, left at the doorstep, at the Elphinstone detachment in Manitoba, later in September.

The officers fed and bathed the pooch before taking him to a veterinarian for shots and check up.

“The poor thing was starving and likely hadn’t eaten for several days,” says a Facebook post on Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba.

While listening in over the radios, an employee of the RCMP Operational Communications Centre, fell in love with the homeless pup and offered to give him a home.

The puppy is adjusting well, loving life and trying to remember to pee on his training mat, the RCMP Facebook post says.

“This story has a happy ending, but not all do. Please remember abandoning an animal is a crime,” the post states.
