Theft in Riverside Meadows leads to home break and enter

A woman was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly using stolen keys to get into a home.

Red Deer RCMP arrested a woman after she allegedly used keys from a stolen purse to break into the victim’s residence.

Police said the suspect was caught inside a Riverside Meadows dwelling by another resident, who held her until police arrived.

As RCMP responded to this 11 a.m. incident, they received a call from another resident of the home reporting that her purse had been stolen that morning from a locker at a recreation centre.

An investigation determined that the woman caught breaking into the home was the same suspect in the earlier purse theft. Identification and keys from the purse were used to locate and enter the home.

A 19-year-old Red Deer woman is facing charges of break and enter and theft. She is due in Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 7.
