QE II northbound north of Innisfail, near Penhold closed, detour in place

Reports of motor vehicle collision south of Red Deer, north of Calgary

Expect major traffic delays north of Innisfail due to a motor vehicle collision.

Tuesday just after 2 p.m., 511 Alberta tweeted QEII northbound, near Penhold, north of Range Road 362 was experiencing delays.

Innisfail RCMP is redirecting QEII northbound traffic onto Highway 2A due to a two-vehicle collision.

Normal traffic flow isn’t expected to resume for several hours, police said at 4:30 p.m.

There is a detour on site. Drivers can rejoin QEII by heading east on Highway 42 at Penhold or by continuing north to Red Deer.

Southbound traffic is unaffected.
