A jackknifed semi-trailer travelling northbound on QEII closed northbound lanes near 67th street Wednesday afternoon.
The Alberta RCMP advised drivers to avoid QEII near Highway 11 and 11A in Red Deer.
In a tweet Wednesday afternoon, RCMP said the northbound lanes were blocked. The accident was cleared around 3:15 p.m.
“If travel is necessary, drive with extreme caution,” they said.
At around 2:30 p.m., 511 Alberta said on QEII from Gasoline Alley to Blackfalds, drivers should “Delay All Non Essential Travel due to icy sections, icy wheel paths, snowing with blowing snow causing poor visibility”.
Delays in the area are still expected due to volume.
