The music of Queen will take centre stage when the touring musical We Will Rock You hits Red Deer on Friday.

The all-Canadian production (it was conceived in Canada and has an all-Canadian cast and crew) will be performed at the Centrium.

We Will Rock You is billed as a futuristic musical, with a cautionary tale for the cyber age. The music is by Queen; the story is by Ben Elton.

With all the scale and spectacle of Queen’s live performances, this show will deliver such classics as Bohemian Rhapsody, We Are the Champions, Another One Bites the Dust and Somebody to Love.

The tunes are used to tell a “quirky, eccentric and heartfelt story of outsiders.”

Since 2002, more than 16 million theatre-goers in 19 countries have seen this production, which is the 15th longest running in the history of London’s West End.
