Today was a wonderful example of hope for our future.

A group of seniors was on a weekly walk in Bower this morning when one of the members collapsed.

A young male, on his way to school, witnessed the fall and offered to call 911, which he did on his cellphone, and contacted the dispatcher, relaying information and then turning on the speakerphone so instructions could be received from 911 dispatch.

A young female came out of her house and said she knew CPR, which she began, following instructions from 911 dispatch.

Both showed compassion and concern and were willing to be of assistance.

It was very heartening and appreciated by all, including the first responders from EMS who were efficient and caring.
