Rain prompts high streamflow advisory

Heading into the long weekend a flood watch was issued for both the Red Deer and Little Red Deer Rivers.

Heading into the long weekend a flood watch was issued for both the Red Deer and Little Red Deer Rivers.

But by Sunday morning it had been downgraded to a high streamflow advisory.

Rain Sunday raised water levels of the rivers and their basins by an average of 0.25 to 0.5 metres, necessitating the advisory.

About 14 mm of rain fell between Sunday morning and Monday afternoon in Central Alberta.
