A rainfall warning is in effect for Red Deer and Central Alberta.
A prolonged and significant rainfall event is expected, with 50 to 80 millimetres of rain by Wednesday morning, Environment Canada said Monday at 10:30 a.m.
Heavy rain will begin Monday evening and persist until Wednesday.
“Look to your municipality and the province of Alberta (rivers.alberta.ca) for the latest information and recommendations,” Environment Canada said.
“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.”
