Rainfall warning in effect for Red Deer, Central Alberta

50 to 80 mm of rain expected

A rainfall warning is in effect for Red Deer and Central Alberta.

A prolonged and significant rainfall event is expected, with 50 to 80 millimetres of rain by Wednesday morning, Environment Canada said Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Heavy rain will begin Monday evening and persist until Wednesday.

“Look to your municipality and the province of Alberta ( for the latest information and recommendations,” Environment Canada said.

“Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.”
