Police have arrested the second person accused of killing a man who moved to the city just months ago in search of work.

Jennifer Lee Caswell, 37, is charged with second-degree murder and assault causing bodily harm. She will appear in court Tuesday.

The deceased, Joseph Junior Alfred Gallant, 45, came to Red Deer from Prince Edward Island just three months before his death.

He was working for a local man, as well as fixing vehicles for people on the side, while setting up house in a rented residence in Grandview, according to family members and acquaintances.

RCMP were called to his home around midnight on March 29. Neighbours phoned 911 after Gallant, who had been stabbed, called for help. The father of two later died in hospital.

On March 31, police issued arrest warrants for Caswell and Quentin Strawberry, both of Red Deer.

Strawberry, 37, was arrested April 16.
