The RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate a homicide that occurred early Tuesday in Red Deer.

No arrests have yet been made, and police are continuing to gather evidence, said Corp. Laurel Scott of RCMP media relations on Thursday.

She urges anyone with information about the March 16 shooting at about 4:45 a.m. on 45 St., in the older section of Eastview, to contact police.

The name of the man who died cannot be released at this point in the investigation, according to the provisions of the Federal Privacy Act, said Scott.

Police blocked off the street where the body was found for most of the day. RCMP believe this was a targeted homicide and there’s no further public safety risk.

Anyone with information, no matter how insignificant, is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.P3Tips.com.
