The RCMP major crimes unit is in Hobbema today following up new leads in the death of Chelsea Yellowbird.
Almost two years to the day of Yellowbird’s death, police will be photographing the scene with the assistance of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), designed to take photographs and video from the air.
Yellowbird was murdered on Sept. 5, 2011. Her death remains unsolved.
“New technology, advances in science and investigative techniques are providing us with the ability to re-examine previously collected evidence and see previously unknown pieces to our puzzle,” said Sgt. Doug Wattie of the major crimes unit. “These advances are of significant importance to our investigations.”
The RCMP is still actively investigating this homicide and following up on all leads and tips.
