RCMP are investigating two recent ATM thefts in Rimbey.

Rimbey RCMP received a report that an ATM was stolen from the Petro Canada on June 3, just after 3 a.m.

“It appears suspects used a vehicle to smash through the front doors, causing significant damage and removed an ATM from the store,” said RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff, public information officer.

Another ATM was stolen from Servus Credit Union on June 5, at about 3 a.m.

Police said it appeared that a backhoe taken from a nearby construction site was used to remove the ATM from the bank.

Savinkoff said police are unable to say if the thefts are related.

“The detachment is currently investigating and the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit is assisting.”
