RCMP are investigating the death of a 27-year-old Maskwacis male which took place early Friday morning.
The man was involved in a physical altercation and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police believe this was not a random act and the public is not at risk.
RCMP Major Crimes South are working with the Wetaskiwin/Maskwacis GIS, the Maskwacis Crime Reduction Unit and the Red Deer Forensic Identification Section.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time at the request of the family.
An autopsy is scheduled for Nov. 14.

Police are seeking to speak to anyone who was present during this altercation.
