RCMP have charged the 20-year-old Samson Cree Nation man arrested after an allegedly gang-related shooting in Hobbema last week.

Clinton Roy Green has been charged with a number of firearms-related offences, including discharging a firearm with intent to endanger life, which carries with it a maximum prison sentence of 14 years. He is well known to police, according to Hobbema RCMP, and is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Wetaskiwin on Tuesday.

Hobbema RCMP and Maskwachees EMS responded to a complaint of shots fired at a residence in the Samson Cree Nation townsite on Friday at 1:15 a.m. They found a 22-year-old Hobbema woman inside suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds.

It’s believed the woman was a random victim and just happened to be standing where the bullets penetrated the front of the house, RCMP have said.

The woman was transported to hospital in Edmonton by STARS air ambulance. Her condition is now listed as stable.
