Red Deer RCMP are looking for two suspects who broke into a West Park home and sent a woman to hospital on Sept. 25.

Police say a woman was sleeping when a man and woman broke into her home around 1:15 a.m. The woman’s dogs began barking, alerting her that someone was in the home.

The two suspects entered the woman’s bedroom, where the man assaulted the resident while she tried to defend herself.

The victim was treated at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and released the same morning.

The suspects left the residence with the victim’s purse, some jewelry and two long-barrel firearms.

Police say the two suspects had attempted unsuccessfully to break into a neighbouring residence before entering the victim’s home.

The man is described as 25-years-old, 1.68 metres to 1.7 metres (five-foot-six to five-foot-seven) tall with blonde hair and a slim build. He has no facial hair or tattoos. He was wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans.

The woman is described as being in her early 20s with dark hair and possibly aboriginal.
