RCMP looking for suspect in poppy box theft

On the eve of Remembrance Day, the poppy box at a Red Deer hotel was stolen and police are looking for a suspect.

Red Deer RCMP issued a release on Wednesday about the Nov. 10 robbery that took place at the Holiday Inn Express, at 2803 50th Ave.

At about 9 p.m. that evening, they received a report that a man had stolen the Remembrance Day poppy box from the front desk of the hotel.

Surveillance footage shows a man taking the poppy box. Police describe the suspect as a Caucasian wearing a long dark jacket with fake fur on the hood and a light-coloured hoodie underneath the jacket. He was also wearing jeans, a red baseball hat with a light-coloured logo on it and running shoes.
