RCMP are warning people to lock their doors at night after two suspects came face to face with a man in his house early Thursday morning.

The man, 46, awoke to some noises at 3:30 a.m. in his home located in the McKenzie subdivision just off Township Road 374 in Red Deer County.

When he went to check on the noise, he found two male teenagers had entered his residence through the unlocked front door.

They told the homeowner a story that was not believable and when the homeowner questioned the story, one of the teens pulled a kitchen knife from his hoodie and then departed. They stole a wallet and a cellular telephone.

The pair left in a non descriptive truck, which was parked down the road. Scene evidence suggests that the two males were checking residences for unlocked doors and vacant premises.

The first male is described as a late teen Caucasian, approximately 5 feet 7 inches with short dark brown hair. This male was wearing a white jacket and gloves.

The second male is described as a late teen approximately 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 6 inches, possibly aboriginal, wearing a black hoodie and a scarf used to partially cover his face.
