RCMP looking for wanted man believed to be in central Alberta

Wetaskiwin RCMP are looking for a man facing murder charges, and they believe him to be in Wetaskiwin, Maskwacis or the Edmonton area.

On Jan. 3, Wetaskiwin RCMP responded to a homicide in the city. An investigation conducted by the major crimes unit led to first-degree murder charges being filed against Ryan Jake Applegarth, 27.

Applegarth has not been located by the RCMP since an earlier request for public assistance on Jan. 6, when he faced arrest warrants on unrelated charges.

The whereabouts of Applegarth remain unknown and police are now looking to take him into custody.

He is believed to be armed and should not be approached.

Applegarth is described as Indigenous, five foot 11, about 181 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes and wearing glasses.

If you have seen him, or know his whereabouts, contact the Wetaskiwin RCMP at 780-312-7267.
