A Red Deer RCMP officer who was injured when her vehicle was rear-ended was released from hospital.

The female officer was taken to hospital, with what turned out to be minor injuries, when her vehicle was struck about 2:15 a.m. while she was supporting a police investigation in Riverside Meadows.

After the collision, emergency services arrived and took both the RCMP member and the male driver of the car that collided with the police vehicle to hospital with what were described as serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were badly damaged as a result of the collision.

The investigation continues. No more information on the other driver’s condition or charges were available on Wednesday.
