As students across central Alberta head back to school this week, RCMP are reminding drivers of safe driving habits.

The end of summer vacation typically means more cars on the road, cooler temperatures and rain. With that, the RCMP officers are cautioning drivers to remember to abide by the speed limits and to keep sufficient space between vehicles to give time to react in case of an emergency, or encountering a road hazard.

In school zones, drivers should be careful to obey posted limits pay attention to stop signs, pedestrian crosswalks, and flashing red and amber lights.

The RCMP will also ensure road safety by doing proactive patrols, check stops, and when necessary will be issuing violation tickets.
