WETASKIWIN, Alta. — RCMP in central Alberta say they are searching for a 27-year-old man charged with first-degree murder.

Mounties say that Ryan Jake Applegarth is wanted in a homicide earlier this month in Wetaskiwin.

They say a request for public assistance in locating Applegarth went out on Jan. 6, when there were arrest warrants for him on unrelated charges.

Investigators say they believe he could be in the Wetaskiwin, Maskwacis or Edmonton areas.

Police say Applegarth is believed to be armed and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
