RCMP are seeking dashboard camera video from Highway 2 drivers who passed near the scene of a collision that critically injured a pedestrian early Thursday afternoon.
Police are asking drivers who were driving in the northbound lanes between 1:15-1:45 p.m near the 32nd Street exit on Thursday to check their videos. It is hoped video may have been captured that will help police in their ongoing investigation.
Police initially reported the collision as a fatal. But a later update said the male victim was badly injured and taken by STARS air ambulance to Edmonton, where he was in critical condition on Friday morning.
RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said the first report to RCMP of a pedestrian at the highway came in at 1:27 p.m.
“Early reports that we received was that this individual was running into traffic on the highway,” he said.
“The highway was blocked off there at 32nd Street for a few hours while officers investigated, ” said Savinkoff.
“We had a traffic analyst attend and the investigation does continue.”
Savinkoff said charges are not expected.
“There is no indication of charges being laid in this case at this time.”
Police have not identified the victim.
