Red Deer RCMP are requesting the public’s help in finding the driver of a dark-coloured Chevrolet Equinox that was involved in a collision with a 12-year-old cyclist last month.
Police said that on May 18 about 8:30 p.m., a collision occurred at the intersection of 30th Avenue and 55th Street.
A Chevrolet Equinox was driving northbound on 30th Avenue and made a left turn on to 55th Street. During the turn, the Equinox struck a cyclist who was riding southbound on 30th Avenue in the crosswalk.
Video footage from the City of Red Deer traffic cameras indicate the driver initially stopped to talk with the cyclist then left the scene.
RCMP are looking to speak with the driver of the Equinox as there is a duty to report the collision to the police.
RCMP are not seeking charges against the driver.
