Police have charged two Rocky Mountain House residents with drug trafficking.

On March 13 at 12:40 p.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP spotted a suspicious vehicle with a man and woman in a parking lot in a targeted crime hotspot area. Officers recognized the male passenger who was breaching his recognizance.

An officer observed the man trying to conceal drugs and money in the vehicle. Both occupants were arrested.

A subsequent search of the occupants and vehicle revealed a large amount of crack cocaine, methamphetamine, oxycodone and heroin. Police also seized a large amount of Canadian currency, a police radio scanner and drug trafficking paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

A 32-year-old man of Rocky Mountain House is facing charges including possession of drugs and failing to comply with a recognizance.

A 32-year-old woman, also from Rocky Mountain House, is facing charges including possession of drugs.
