RCMP continue to probe the suspicious Castor area fire that claimed at least two lives, but they are releasing few details about the investigation.

On Dec. 8, a fire destroyed Gordon and Sandi Klaus’ farmhouse on Range Road 132 in the County of Paintearth.

While the couple and their adult daughter, Monica, were believed to be at home at the time of the fire, the Calgary Medical Examiner’s Office only identified the remains of Gordon and Monica.

Sgt. Josee Valiquette of the RCMP K Division said Sandi Klaus is unaccounted for.

Recently the couple’s son, Jason, told CBC that he believes he is being treated like a suspect. Jason lives on his parent’s farm in a separate house.

Valiquette said it is common practice for police talk to anybody that may be able to offer information in an investigation.

“We still feel for him,” she said. “Nobody wants that sort of situation happen to them. He has lost family members.”

Police would not say if they had any suspects or disclosed the cause of the fire.
