Record donations at Red Deer College scholarship breakfast

The Great One has smashed another record. Wayne Gretzky, with a little help from former National Hockey League tough guy Kelly Chase, brought in $75,000 for Red Deer College. Gretzky and Chase were the guest speakers at the 10th annual Red Deer College Kings and Queens Scholarship Breakfast in March.

College officials say the breakfast was the “greatest one yet.”

Two major donations totalling $350,000 to RDC’s Athletics Leadership Fund were also announced at the breakfast. Stantec Consulting Ltd. donated $100,000 and Adrian Lachance donated $250,000.

RDC also received $180,000 in anonymous gifts.
