Red Deer area artist AEM, formerly known as Amy Metcalfe has released a new single.
The song, an electro-pop single called Hot in the City is available on Spotify and Apple Music.
“I chose this single as my debut release because it represented a lot of my feelings in one song,” Metcalfe said in a release.
“Over the last few years and as you grow up a bit you realize the only thing that matters is having someone you love around. Whether that be family, friends or a significant other, humans are designed to be surrounded with love, they’re designed to be surrounded with their people.”
On the country music scene, Metcalfe earned several nominations for her music and also had a top 50 billboard song, that was later put on hold by Reba McEntire.
More recently, she decided to move away from Country music, when it became clear her skills were meant for a new home in pop-alt.
Her first song written in that genre was titled Letting Go in which AEM was the feature vocalist on the track released by DJ Kav.
The song led to her performing an opening slot at a sold-out Chainsmokers concert in Calgary.
