Red Deer-area artists can apply for various awards, scholarships by March 1
Local artists of all genres have a chance to apply for various awards through the Red Deer Arts Council.
— The $1,000 Emerging Artists Award supports and encourages promising artists early in their careers. Artists of all genres are encouraged to apply for this legacy award from the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta Distinguished Arts Awards, held June 2013 in Red Deer.
— Young student artists of all genres can also apply for the $500 Princess Margaret Scholarship, the $500 Centennial Scholarships, the $500 Waskasoo Bluegrass Music Scholarship and the $750 RDC Music Society Scholarship. These scholarships are aimed at secondary and post-secondary students living within the central Alberta residential boundaries of Ponoka, Stettler, Olds, and Rocky Mountain House.
— Visual artists from Red Deer and Red Deer County can apply for the $1,500 Artwalk Developing Visual Artist Award to encourage their further growth. This award is a legacy of Red Deer Artwalk Society, which established an annual award for developing visual artists living and working in central Alberta in 2018.
