Red Deer County would like to encourage local youth ages six to 25 to enter the 2020 Agricultural Service Board Youth for Agriculture Award Contest.

The contest asks youth to submit one of an article, video, drawing, or song on the topic: How can Red Deer County farmers and urban neighbours build positive relationships/connections with each other?

There is no fee to enter the contest, and winners will be selected from three categories: Senior (ages 18-25), Junior (ages 12-17) and Youth (6-11).

“The goal of the YFAA program is to inspire Red Deer County youth to talk to their farming neighbours, and members of the farming community about agriculture,” said Red Deer County agricultural services staff Aimee Delaney.

“It is so important for young people to understand where their food comes from and the time and effort put into growing it.”

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 15. Winners will be announced through Red Deer County social media and publications. For contest rules and regulations, visit rdcounty.ca/agriculture.
