Red Deer author Harley Hays has won some accolades south of the border.

Hay’s new book Christmas Shorts - Six Curious Christmases, Six Strange Stories just won third place in the Published Short Story Collection category of the Seven Hills Literary Contest in Florida.

While Hays “really unfortunately” couldn’t attend the awards ceremony, he joined other award winners for a presentation last week on Zoom that comes with a cash prize and a listing in their website and literary journals.

Christmas Shorts, released in November, is described as a collection of “twisty, turny tales” with inexplicable elements. Hays hopes the stories will be inspiring and uplifting to readers.

This is the Advocate columnist’s seventh book. It is available from Amazon.ca.
