Group members Zakk Waschuk said his band has been accepted, into the top 15 bands for the KISS Kruise contest.

“This is an opportunity where we could go on a five-day cruise from L.A to Cabo San Lucas and be one the six smaller bands who would play aboard the ship for the band KISS,” he explained.

A public voting process will decide if Face the Earth makes it to the top 10 bands.

“After that only the passengers on the cruise will be permitted to vote, and the top six bands out of the 10 will be given the opportunity,” said Waschuk.

“This will help us tremendously considering it’s an open vote to the public right now so anyone can help.”

Waschuk wants to spread the word since the first round of voting closes on July 28.

The band that performed at Bower Ponds during Canada Day celebrations has just released its first music video. Face the Earth’s other big moment this summer was opening for Big Sugar at Bo’s Bar and Stage on July 20.

The group will next be opening for Bif Naked at Bo’s on Aug. 9, and is planning to release some new singles this fall.
