Red Deer business owner makes $10K donation to Make-A-Wish Canada campaign

This is the fourth year in a row Bulldog Metals’ Bob Bevins has donated

One Red Deer business owner has made a significant donation towards Make-A-Wish Canada.

For the fourth straight year Bob Bevins, owner of Bulldog Metals, has contributed $10,000 to Joe Hittel’s annual campaign in support of the nonprofit organization that grants wishes for children with critical illnesses.

It costs about $10,000 to grant a single wish, so Bevins has helped grant four wishes with his donations that have totalled $40,000.

Make-A-Wish Canada CEO Meaghan Stovel McKnight and Jen Garden, the organization’s North Alberta chapter director, were on hand as Bevins handed the $10,000 cheque over to Hittel recently.

This year is Make-A-Wish Canada’s 40th anniversary. The organization is aiming to double its wish delivery from last year – 966 wishes were granted in 2022 and the goal this year is to grant 1,800.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary, Make-A-Wish will send 40 families on their wish to go to Walt Disney World Resort on a single plane in July. The organization is saving a seat on that plane for Hittel.

This is the sixth year Hittel is raising money for the nonprofit organization. Since 2018, he has raised $170,000 and he is aiming to raise another $50,000 in 2023.

His online campaign page shows that more than $15,000 has already been raised.
