Meghan Huizing from St. Gregory the Great Catholic School in Blackfalds has been selected by Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools as a finalist for the Alberta School Boards Association (ASBA) 2021 Edwin Parr Award.

Huizing was one of four teachers nominated for this award from across the division.

The other three nominees were Caileigh Sheppard from École Camille J. Lerouge School, Katherine Monaghan from Maryview School and Kelsie Caine from St. Francis of Assisi Middle School.

“Meghan is very deserving of this award, as her enthusiasm to see her Grade 8 and 9 students succeed in a safe and caring environment is astounding,” said vice principal, Josh Keith at St. Gregory the Great Catholic School.

“Meghan speaks with her students in a calming and respectful manner and puts their needs at the forefront of every decision and conversation. Each day, Meghan does a phenomenal job modelling what positive and healthy relationships look like through her interactions with students and staff. As a result, she is able to permeate her faith into her lessons regularly and inherently.”
